After purchasing a Certificate from a vendor (e.g. Comodo), generate the Certificate Signing Request (CSR) using the Comodo CSR Tool. Once issued, you can retrieve your actual Certificate (in CRT format). Convert the file to PFX as described.
So, you've purchased a code signing Product, now what? Remember, these are security products, so there's an enrollment process you must follow before you can get started. We have customized generation processes for each type of product. Check out our 3-step guide below, then click Start Enrollment Process Now.
Start the Generation Process of your Comodo Code Signing
3 Steps to issue your certificate:
1. Certificate Enrollment
Click the button above to begin the process. You'll need to provide some basic information and submit your certificate signing request (CSR) You can use one of these options to generate your CSR:
A) Create your own Certificate Signing Request (CSR) and copy/paste into the enrollment form,
B) Use Internet Explorer during enrollment to automatically generate the CSR (the private key will be saved within your browser).
C) Use our built-in generator to create a CSR, be sure to download a copy of the private key if it doesn’t download automatically.
Note for EV certificates: the Certificate Authority will generate your CSR for you, just fill out the enrollment form.
2. Complete Validation
There is some validation paperwork required to meet industry guidelines (set by Microsoft, CA/B Forum, etc.). Sectigo/Comodo will email you a link to the Validation Manager portal, where you can upload your business registration documents and government-issued photo ID.
3. Download & merge your certificate
After issuance, you'll want to merge your certificate and private key to create a PFX file which is compatible with Microsoft SignTool and other popular developer tools.
PFX Creation guide Note for EV certificates: a USB drive that contains your certificate and private key will be automatically shipped after validation is completed.
